Loop Pile Or Cut Pile Is General Pile Construction

The top layer of the carpet is called the pile. It composed of millions of yarn segments.

A carpet pile can be described in various ways:

· The pile fibers, for example 100% wool, 100% nylon, 100% polyester etc

· Method of manufacture : (a) woven – Axminster, Wilton, hand-knotted etc; (b) tufted

· The general pile construction: loop pile or cut-pile, and combinations of these two types
